It's late, and we've got a tired team, so I will keep this blog post short!
We had another great day in Chicagoland! Our group is getting along well, and are functioning well as a team.
We spent our morning back at Olive Branch Mission. Our students have really hit a groove with their projects here. Some students are leading a VBS with the homeless children, other students prepared lunch for the clients, and others went around the grounds and did some landscaping projects. As we left for lunch, the kids were happy, the families were fed, and the grounds looked beautiful!
Our students led Day 2 of VBS back at our host church. The kids absolutely loved doing crafts, games and small group activities. Tomorrow will be our last VBS day, which I'm sure will be disappointing to both the kids and our team.
One more ministry endeavor to note: This afternoon, 7 members from our team went to downtown Chicago to assist with food/supplies distribution for the homeless. We passed out soups, salads, bread, and juice, along with shampoo, soap and undergarments. Many of our students engaged in conversation with these people. We heard their stories, prayed with them, and some even shared their testimony with them. This was an incredibly humbling and powerful experience, so much so, that some of our team has decided to forgo a part of their recreation day to go back and serve again. What incredible servant hearts!
It's hard to believe that tomorrow is already our last full day of ministry initiatives. Pray that our students will go all out and boldy serve and speak of the love of Jesus to others.
