Monday, June 17, 2019 – The first day of our VBS. We woke up bright and early at 7:00am and began our day with breakfast. The church had prepared for us scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, and provided yogurt too. Shortly after breakfast, we gathered up around the floor to have our APEX training morning session and learned about the Hexagon style of prayer. After we had our training time, we got ready and started to prepare for our VBS!
We got crafts, games, and bible group time prepared for the students to walk through. Our faithful leaders, Derek and Shawn, went to go pick up students around the neighborhoods and gathered them into our 15 passenger vans to bring them back to the church. Once all of the kids were gathered and ready to get it started, we started singing our worship songs and ran through the skit. We then took all the kids through crafts, games, and a bible lesson for the remainder of the time. Once the VBS was done for day one, the student leaders played and ran around with them and lastly, Derek and Shawn dropped the kids back off at their homes and the students began to clean up and geared up for the rest of the evening ahead of us.
We started our evening activity by making PB&J sandwiches for the kids for tomorrow’s night ministry activity. Then we went along with a trip to IHOP (and no it was not the House of Breakfast LOL!) We went to the International House of Prayer to experience worship and prayer with the community of Kansas City. It was an amazing experience to get to have with our team and the rest of the community. We were wrapping up the night and getting ready for day 2 of VBS! Until tomorrow’s blog…
