Haiti

Haiti holds a special place in the hearts of many at Constance who've been involved in trips to the country over the past decade. Initially, a small team from Constance participated in an EFCA Crisis Response trip to assist after the devastating earthquake in 2010. This trip evolved into participating in establishing GlobalFingerprints in Haiti, with Constance teams regularly traveling there to serve. GlobalFingerprints has thrived in partnership with the local church and still continues today, despite the unimaginable hardship of recent years.

In July 2021, the Haitian President, Jovenel Moïse, was assassinated. This incident sparked increased uncertainty and political instability throughout the country, with a surge in gang activity, particularly in the capital city of Port-au-Prince. The gangs have grown increasingly powerful, resulting in a rise in violence, kidnappings, and extortion. The situation remains a significant challenge for Haiti, deeming travel there unsafe at the current time. Nevertheless, Constance's heart for Haiti remains, and we continue to support the GlobalFingerprints program and Haitian site workers as they continue the ministry of the program.
